Description
My husband and I had the privilege of visiting this beautiful old mill as we came on it accidentally while driving on the southern part of the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia.
It was built around 1910 by Edwin B. Mabry they say he was a jack of all trades. He was also a chair maker, a miner, a coal company blacksmith and a farmer. Edwin and his wife operated the mill until 1936. They sawed lumbar and ground corn for their Meadows of Dan neighbors
The National Park Service restored and landscaped the mill in 1945. Today it is the most photographed feature on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
