Description
This portion of the old canal wall was built in the 1810s & 1820s by slave labor. Ships from the Revolutionary War through the Civil War used this canal system. It parallels the Catawba River, in Chester County SC, and was used to move and transport people and cargo, etc. Landsford Canal is the highest in the system and within this section, the river falls thirty-four feet. It's such a beautiful place and this wall is so beautiful despite its age.
